Geospatial Big Data Platform Engineer

The GBDX Platform Engineer is responsible for building, deploying and operating our highly robust & massively scaled Geospatial Big Data Platform, aka GBDX.

About the team
The GBDX Platform Data Access team builds and operates the underlying data access services that back the GBDX platform & ecosystem.  The services we build & deploy are highly robust & scalable, they move and manage petabytes of satellite imagery, and they enable 3rd party developers to build & deploy algorithms on our platform.  The system is built on top of Amazon Web Services, and we focus on ease of use, simplicity, and execution. 


We are looking for a motivated & highly qualified individual to join the GBDX Platform Data Access team as a software development engineer.  For us, the ideal engineer fulfills ALL the following requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Java Development Experience
  • Performance Engineering Experience
  • 'Make-it-happen' attitude, the innate capacity for ownership and timely delivery of results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to monitor and debug a very large complex system of services;
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services;
  • Experience in professional software development teams;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with or strong interest in Remote Sensing, Image Processing, and/or Machine Learning
