The ingredients for an ideal workplace are different for everyone — you might feel strongly about certain benefits, or perhaps you’re looking for a very specific kind of company culture. To bring some clarity to the job hunt, we lined up seven Colorado-based tech companies — all of whom are growing right now — to outline their mission, favorite perks and what they think makes them a unique place to work.

At Xero, we don't have offices.”

Fun fact: “At Xero, we don't have offices,” Partner Development Representative Luis Cruz said. “You might glance over one day to see the president or CEO sitting right beside you tending to their email. We also practice agile working, so employees have the option to choose from a number of different work spaces each day.”

What they do: Pie Insurance is taking on a new, tech-based approach to small business insurance, striving to make worker compensation less expensive, simpler and more transparent for all involved. Upper management is very, very approachable all the way to the top, which is hard to find in a company.”

What they do: When a business needs guidance from the public to help configure its products and services, they turn to GutCheck. People get together outside of work naturally, organizing their own non-sanctioned work events or get togethers...”

Fun fact: “I think it surprises people when they learn that the employees here are tried and true friends,” Research Strategist Jeremy Backal said. “40 hours a week is a lot of time to spend with the same group of people — so you’d better like them — and at GutCheck sometimes 40 hours isn’t enough. People get together outside of work naturally, organizing their own non-sanctioned work events or get togethers, simply because they enjoy their friends from work. What a concept!”

Also on a global company level, working with other people and cultures is a part of the everyday life at SumUp. Every one of us takes pride in being part of a 1,500-person global team. I regularly align with our development team in Sofia, Bulgaria or brainstorm new ideas with our marketing team in Berlin, Germany — working across borders not only makes my job more exciting, but also improves our results.”
